with Earth Beats (ISD Oneonta's New Drum Circle)

December 21 - 12 PM following the Sunday Service

We warmly invite you to stay after service on December 21 to help us welcome back the light on the Winter Solstice. Our newly formed ISD Oneonta drum circle, Earth Beats, will offer a guided meditation, blessing of the seven directions, and a shamanic drum circle to celebrate this sacred celestial occasion. Earth Beats, with co-hosts Tom Landon and Karin Murphy, is offering this event at ISD as an outgrowth of their shamanic drumming experiences with another local drum circle led by Suzanne Summers. Participation is open to anyone who hears this calling to them. If you have a drum, by all means bring it! We will have warm soup and other tasty delights to enjoy after the drumming.

Tom Landon

Tom is an ISD Reiki Third Degree sanctioned healer and secretary of the Board of Directors. He is a founding member of the Oneonta chapter, and a former member of ISD-DC in Washington, DC with his wife Sue. He has been a lifelong singer, currently singing with three distinctly different choral groups in Oneonta and Binghamton.

He discovered shamanic drumming a few years ago with the local group led by Suzanne Summers of Cooperstown. He made his own 15 inch shamanic frame drum in a workshop led by John (Crow) MacKinnon in 2025, and has a second one made of bison hide by a Native American in Colorado. Tom uses his drum in his evening healing prayers for friends and family. His collaboration with Karin Murphy to create the ISD Earth Beats drum circle feeds his intention to expand the healing qualities of drumming within ISD.

Karin Murphy, Energy Healer. Mystical Maiden Healing

Karin is an energy healer and Shamanic drum circle facilitator.

Karin started her healing journey in 2020 when her 17 year old cat transitioned. She felt like she needed healing so she went to Cindy Staffin for a Reiki session. She liked it so much that she wanted to learn this healing modality. She became certified in Reiki I and Reiki II through Cindy.

Karin is certified in Crystal Healing through Julie St.George. She is also certified as a New Paradigm MDT (Multi Dimensional Transformation) Basic Master through Nell Tomassen Reboh.

Karin also became a certified Advanced IET (Integrated Energy Therapy) practitioner and completed the Healing Practitioner Program with Rev. JoAnn Wormuth as a teacher and mentor. She is now a sanctioned healer with the Institute For Spiritual Development.

Karin has taken many classes and workshops within these 5 years and is still expanding her toolbox.
She also facilitates Shamanic Drum Circles at ISD and would like to add Shamanic Journeying.

During your session with Karin, you will feel her wonderful loving and healing energy.

She is tuned into sensation and guided by her intuition to help you feel relaxed and relieved.
