
This class will cover the background and key principles of Stoicism and will be presented through the trials of Vice Admiral James Stockdale, a 7 year prisoner of war in Vietnam. Admiral Stockdale credits Stoicism for his ability to endure 7 years of extreme conditions he faced while held captive. The class will provided guided practice exercise in which students will experience application of stoic principles to everyday challenges.
In this class, we will introduce:
• Stoicism’s background and key principles.
• The cardinal virtues.
• Practical experience applying Stoicism to everyday life.

About Dan AtkinsonDan Atkinson is a retired Marine and currently working as a consultant with the Federal Government. He received his B.S. in Physics from SUNY Albany and his master’s from Penn State. Through Dan's career he has taught a variety of classes including ethics, leadership, and technical business subjects. Dan was introduced to Stoicism in 2007 and has been an avid reader and student since.
