
Unmask Your Creative Self and Make a Theater Mask! 2 Day Workshop.
Feb 14, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm & Feb. 15, 12:00 - 3:00 PM
For ages 10 and up ! Bring a family member, Ages (10 to 16, must be accompanied by an adult). This class will be limited to 12 people total.
During this 2 Day workshop, you will learn the ancient mask-making tradition from the Commedia dell'Arte actors of the Italian Renaissance.
Day 1: We will make the plaster cast of your face and a papier-mache neutral mask within it, or a character mask on the outside of your cast. Mini-readings are available for free for registered students, on Saturday, Feb. 14th, after class, starting at 1pm, with ISD Mediums, Diana Friedell and Story Lucile Ducey, for those who want one.
Day 2: Through guided visualization with Barbara, we will tune into our higher selves to perceive how to decorate our masks. We will paint and finish your mask.
While the masks are drying, in small groups, you will learn how to wear a Theater mask and create mask and mime improvisations.
By the end of the workshop, you will leave with your Papier mache mask and the plaster cast of your face, from which you can make many more masks and wall hangings.

Please bring pins or shower caps
to put your hair back from your face.
Vaseline to cover your face, and also a towel to drape over your shoulders.
Also, wear clothes that are suitable for making art!

Barbara L. Gregson of Gregson Theater, Gregson.theater is a Theater artist, Director, and Author of “Theater Artists’ Play, a Guide to Making and Creating Your Own Theater Work.
“She believes in making the theater arts accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Her motto is, “Imagine, Create, Play! “ She teaches mime, maskmaking, and acting/storytelling techniques to the participants of her productions so they may create their own original Theater pieces and performances.

For the past 15 years, she has written and collaborated with people throughout the Southern Tier of NY., receiving State and regional arts council grants to create original theater pieces and productions. Previously, she worked with the PA., DE., and NJ. State Arts councils and lived in Philadelphia, PA.
