Chantal Doktor

Chantal was born in Quebec City into a strict religious family. From a young age, she felt a deep connection to Jesus and Mary but grew disillusioned with church rules, gender roles, and the suppression of questioning. Pursuing her passion for psychology, she earned an MA and prepared to work as a therapist. Instead, she moved to the U.S. after meeting her husband, transitioning to careers in translation and accounting.

In her late thirties, Chantal faced a life-threatening illness that brought years of struggle. After becoming a single parent, she sought spiritual community. She explored various churches but ultimately rejected organized religion and turned to alternative healing methods. This led her to discover yoga and spiritualism. She became a Reiki Master and certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher, with additional training in restorative yoga, chair yoga and yoga Nidra, working mostly with shy beginners and people with special needs. The pandemic and a move to the countryside disrupted this path.

During this time, Chantal began painting, inspired by visions received in Story Ducey’s circle and encouraged by a mutual artist friend. Seeking continued spiritual growth, she found a supportive community at ISD Oneonta.
