As we know it, Chi Gung, also known as QiGung, is a practice of both energy work, mindfulness and gentle physical movements, or forms practiced to increase one's own health. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it bridges easily out of that tradition for anyone looking to feel better and work especially on their physical health. Typically those who build the daily practice experience more energy and clarity in their lives, and the propensity to build and balance their physical, mental or emotional health as well.
QiGong works by:
reconnecting the practitioner electromagnetically with the Earth and her living energies, thereby plugging him/her into a living circuitry of balanced wellness greater than oneself
getting congested or stuck' energy to move more evenly throughout the body
increasing the quality of and quantity of balanced life energies in your own 'vessel', or body.
There are many forms of ChiGung, some static, or still - and some dynamic or moving. These 5 forms are moving, with each one taking no longer than 1-3 minutes to complete one cycle of. The cycles are repeated and combined based on the needs and wishes of the practitioner. The beauty of 5 element chi gong is that once you have learned the 5 (metal, water, wood, earth and fire) - you can pick and choose based off of your needs if you'd like. The 5 may also be practiced together to become a short TaiChi form which still brings all of the same attributes and builds general wellness.
This is a two part class, Saturday, Feb 28 from 2-4pm, and Sunday, March 8th, from 11am-1pm. Students must take part in both classes.
Tuition: INCLUDES BOTH CLASSES: General: $31ISD Members: $26.
Kimberly Winsor
Kimberly learned this form while studying 5 element theory at Dragon Society International JuJitsu with Grandmast Rick Moneymaker, over 15 years ago. Master Ray Fisher is accredited with teaching this form mostly. Kimberly holds a brown belt in Uechi-ryu karate and several lesser belts in other styles of jujitsu and karate both. ChiGung has been an integral part of her daily wellness plan and a great source of sanity and refuge over the years!
